Maroon 5 Gets Explicit On ‘This Summer’s Gonna Hurt’

Maroon 5 has released its summer single "Gonna Hurt this summer," along with a video letter representing a literal interpretation of the song title: Basically, the whole thing is a collection of images that show people getting injured. There is also the repetition of the word "motherf-er," because the full title of the song is actually "this summer Gonna Hurt Like a Motherf-er", but that is less radio-friendly.

The track is as catchy as any post-Songs About Jane Maroon 5 song, perfectly adequate for a night full of tequila shots and bad decisions. The band has gone much of his initial sound of funk-influenced rock ago, but the truth is I have always been a pop band. They are only now embracing more fully, writing hymns as summer.

And it makes sense for them. From Southern California, Maroon 5 are quite high, in a perpetual state of summer. And be sure to refer to it in most of his songs, like Anthony Kiedis sings how endlessly about California. This safe state foster self a lot of pride in its residents.

Meanwhile, Adam Levine maintains its reputation as a lyrical genius, singing, "I see her dancing in a silly / equal to that she is 17 and fresh / She really thinks she can move / But it's just unpleasant. / I see when I go to sleep / check my phone when I am weak / Never Posts nothing profound / because she's so smart. "
